The F Report

The F Report is to financial services what Gordan Ramsey is to cooking!

The report will aid fund management groups in the development and implementation of an agreed strategy to increase the overall marketability of the chosen funds.

Our experience suggests that fund management groups have a wide range of funds and that not all, for a variety of reasons, achieve varying levels of success as measured by the value of inflow of new money.

The overall position of the funds can be mixed, ranging from those that have immediate potential to those which require a longer period of support to bring them to the attention of distributors. There are also those funds that have no immediate potential because of process change or unfavourable markets.

There are factors external to the funds that exist and impact on their sales potential. Brand recognition may be strong; however there may be limited areas where fund management is seen as a key strength.  A lack of clarity around management and sales structures can inhibit sales and any mixed recent performance can also lead distributors to have negative perceptions of the brand.

There needs to be an awareness of changing themes in the distribution market so that funds can be marketed when the appropriate conditions dictate.  This will require preparation for potential events and themes identified.

Research Process & Methodology

The first stage in putting together the Fund Report is to identify the funds to be considered.  This can be done either by the fund management group or by Rayner Spencer Mills based on a quantitative screen of the funds.

We will conduct research in a number of areas and take information from numerous sources and the process used is summarised below:

1. Quantitative Research

2. Internal structures and procedures

3. External research

4. Current market issues

5. Fund reports
